Dr P. Jagannath is a cancer surgeon with four decades of experience, shaped most profoundly by his years at Tata Memorial Hospital and Tata Memorial Centre, India’s premier cancer institution. Throughout his career, he has helped build and expand complex cancer surgery in India, including advancing the field of HPB (hepato-pancreato- biliary) surgery. He is known among patients for a rare combination of meticulous surgical discipline and an unwavering commitment to the human fundamentals of medicine – listening attentively, examining with care and offering reassurance that no scan can provide. He is currently the chairman, Department of Surgical Oncology at Lilavati Hospital and S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai.
Pankaj Mishra has been a journalist for twenty-six years, reporting for The Economic Times, Mint and TechCrunch. He is the author of Against the Grain, which grew out of his Outliers podcast, and of All In and Down But Not Out. In 2016, he co-founded FactorDaily, now a decade-old journalism lab for society. He travels by train, and a lot of his best stories have come from the people he meets on the way. Even one is an audience.
